Two New Moms

Here are two new moms with their first children. Who knew what the future held? The war was over. They had husbands starting careers, elbows deep in diapers, and new babies to figure out... did the future look bright? Or were they too busy to even consider it? That's Mom with Cathy, and Aunt Jan with Ricky.

David has told me that Aunt Jan's first husband was killed in World War II. She served as a WREN during World War II (see recruitment posters here and here). Uncle Fontaine served in U.S. Naval Intelligence. They met, she came to the United States, and was a dear part of the family ever after.

This is late 1948 or possibly the first of 1949.
